GOAL

To promote a positive image of Voronezh as a city for living, working, and tourism.

CONCEPT

For the “Russia” exhibition-forum, an interactive stand was developed featuring two touchscreen displays, Kinect technology, and a 360° video zone. A total of five mini-games were created. One of them was controlled via Kinect, while the others used buttons and a joystick. The interactive content highlighted interesting and educational facts about Voronezh.

HARVESTING GAME

Voronezh is known for its fertile black-earth soils, so this game focused on agricultural harvesting technologies. The simulator allows users to control a tractor. The goal is to collect as much harvest as possible within two minutes. The main character of the game — the tractor — was based on a real model of agricultural machinery, which we modeled and animated for the project.

“IL-96” GAME

Voronezh is home to an aircraft manufacturing facility where the legendary Russian aircraft IL-96 is produced. We developed a simulator game that introduces users to the aircraft production process. Using a joystick and buttons, visitors go through the step-by-step assembly of the IL-96. The game includes four levels with tasks of varying difficulty. An additional gameplay challenge was the time limit: users had two minutes to complete the game.

“BEAVER DAM” GAME

In this puzzle game, users help beavers build a dam. To complete the task, players move between logs using a joystick and set the correct direction for each log with a button. The beaver character supports the player throughout the game, but the limited time keeps the experience dynamic and engaging.

The game includes four difficulty levels. Once the player correctly connects the fragments, an animation is triggered and a happy beaver runs across the completed dam.

“NEW YEAR QUEST” GAME

A themed game created specially for the winter season. Players had to help little animals collect all the presents before time ran out. The character was controlled with a joystick.

“JOURNEY TO VORONEZ” GAME

The goal of this game was to help visitors discover their personal travel mascot for a journey through the Voronezh Region. The user steps onto a platform, while Kinect scans them and determines which mascot character they resemble. The game then continues with a movement-based challenge: the player has to repeat poses shown by their mascot. At the end of the game, the player receives recommendations on places to visit in the Voronezh Region.

ANIMATION

For all the games, both the characters and their in-game animations were carefully developed. This made the experience more dynamic and engaging, which was especially important considering that the exhibition attracted many children.
